Susan Kalk is Chief Quality & Technical Operations Officer for Sunovion Pharmaceuticals Inc. and a member of the Sunovion Executive Leadership Team. In 2015, Ms. Kalk joined Sunovion as Head of Quality Compliance and Audit. In 2016 she was appointed Senior Vice President and Head of Global Quality. She is responsible for leading all aspects of Quality Assurance, and Quality Compliance in the U.S., Canada, UK, and Japan for the drug development programs and marketed products of Sunovion and its parent company Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co., Ltd. Ms. Kalk also oversees the Technical Operations functions, including Analytical Services, manufacturing and drug supply for clinical trials and commercial products for Sunovion.
Her leadership includes more than 25 years of global experience in the development, approval, and commercialization of pharmaceutical, biologic, and medical device products. Prior to joining Sunovion, Ms. Kalk was Vice President of Quality Assurance at NPS Pharmaceuticals Inc. Previously she served in executive roles at Alexion Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Amgen Inc.
Ms. Kalk holds a B.S. degree in Biochemistry from University of Witwatersrand, South Africa. She is a member of Women In Bio, HealthCare Business Women’s Association, and Executive Sponsor of the HBA Ambassador Program and Women Rising Business Impact Group. Susan was born in South Africa and lived in Canada prior to moving to the US. She has lived in multiple states including Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Florida with her husband Bryan and two daughters Courtney and Madison, who both have followed their mother’s career in the life sciences.
